YU-Sangju pursues 'Saemaul Globalization Undong' through government-academic cooperation
2 students from Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul from Malaysia and Philippines selected as public administration interns in Sangju
Expected to foster human resources with both theory and practical abilities through field work experience

 International students at the Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul are learning Saemaul Undong at Sangju City Hall.

  Noor Azlina Binti Musa (27) from Malaysia and Ma. Angelika Katrina P. Linga (23) from the Philippines, who are in their fourth term in the master's degree course of the Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul Department of Public Policy and Leadership, are working as public administration interns at Sangju City Hall.

 They will work for four months at the City Hall Saeumaul Tourism Department from the 17th to July 16 to get hands-on experience on Saemaul Undong and spread it when they return to their home countries.

 This public administration intern support project was achieved by YU proposing to Sangju City to foster future Saemaul Undong leaders through government-academic cooperation.

 The students who are participating as public administration interns are outstanding human resources who graduated from prestigious universities in their countries with diverse experience. Noor Azlina Binti Musa studied East Asian Studies at the University of Malaya located in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Ma. Angelika Katrina P. Linga majored in Asian Studies at the University of Santo Tomas, one of the four most prestigious universities of the Philippines. Ma. Angelika Katrina P. Linga is working as a public official in the Philippines and gained the opportunity to compare the public administration work of the two countries by participating in this internship program.

 Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul Dean Park Seung-woo stated, "The cooperation of YU that educates the academic theories and knowledge of the Saemaul Undong and the City of Sangju that is in charge of the implementation of the Saemaul Undong will create a synergy effect." He added, "This is a good opportunity for graduate school students to integrate theories with field experience, so we hope that we will be able to foster Saemaul Undong leaders with hands-on experience and capabilities."

 Meanwhile, YU and Sangju City also signed an MOU on mutual cooperation for the globalization of the Saemaul Undong such as providing support for the development and operation of the Saemaul Undong education and training program and establishment of a national Saemaul leader training center in September of last year.
