Selected as central research center project of the National Research Foundation supported by the Ministry of Education and receive 4.5 billion won in research expense support for nine years

 The YU Clean Technology Research Center (Director Shim Jae-jin) was selected as a 'central research center' supported by the government. The 'college central research center support project' overseen by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation aims at constructing research hubs within colleges by supporting the infrastructure of research centers in colleges and leading to the specialization of college research centers so that the central research center can foster outstanding new research personnel.

 The YU Clean Technology Research Center was selected as a central research center for its project titled 'Development of nano bio-based sustainable clean IT/energy material process development' in April. Thus, they will receive 4.5 billion won in research expense support for the next nine years from the government. The YU Clean Technology Research Center that was established in March of 2000 focuses on the development and commercialization of clean energy material processing technologies with the goal of saving clean energy produced using microorganism fuel cells and quantum dot solar cells using high capacity super-capacitators.

 With the selection for this project, the Clean Technology Research Center held the central research center opening symposium at the YU Chemical Engineering Room 311 at 1:30 p.m. on the 19th. This was co-hosted by the YU Clean Technology Research Center, LINC Project Team (Director Lee Hee-young) and the IT/Energy Material Process Creative Chemical Engineering Personnel Fostering Project Team (Director Lee Tae-jin) to hold in-depth discussions on the latest research trends and future projects on clean processing technologies and clean energy materials technology.

 During the first part of the symposium, Chonbuk National University Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering Professor Hong Dong-pyo made a presentation on 'Self-levitation stage system and research foundation research support policies' and Ulsan University Department of Chemical Engineering Hong Soon-ho made a presentation on 'Design of Synthetic Bacteria Bio Sensors and GABA Production Recombination Strain'.

 In the second part that was on clean energy materials technologies, POSTECH Department of Chemical Engineering Professor Lee Geon-hong made a presentation on 'Carbon nano-tube fibers as large nano-materials', Sungkyunkwan University Department of Chemistry Professor Lee Hyo-young made a presentation on 'Energy storage of nano-structures using graphene thin sections', followed by Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology Department of Environment-friendly Energy Engineering Professor Baek Jong-beom on 'Mass production of graphene nano-plates'.

 Meanwhile, the number of college research institutes designated as a central research center supported by the Ministry of Education is only 43 nationwide. The Dokdo Research Center and the Clean Technology Research Center at YU have been selected as central research centers from the Ministry of Education and are receiving national funding.
