  School of Chemical Engineering Professor Park Jin-ho (58) was appointed as the fourth chairperson of the Korea Photovoltaic Society. His term is for one year until the end of this year.
 The Korea Photovoltaic Society was established in 2012 for the purpose of constructing an industry-academic-research cooperation system in the photovoltaic sector, which is a core technology among the 11 renewable energy sectors, as well as to promote R&D, technology transfers and relevant industries through academic activities. The society engages in projects such as the investigation, collection, research and exchange of academic materials, publication and distribution of academic magazines, hosting of academic conferences, academic exchange with related domestic and foreign institutes, industry-academic cooperation with national public institutes and other agencies, and development of policies for the development of the photovoltaic industry.
 Professor Park earned his PhD at the University of Florida in the US and is currently serving as a professor at the YU School of Chemical Engineering since September 1994. Professor Park was recently recognized for his capacities outside of the university by being appointed as the MD (managing director) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's strategic planning team for a three-year term. There are nine energy PDs (program director) under the MD and the MD in in charge of managing the appointed PDs and establishing technology policies to supplement the lacking technological expertise of the officers.
 In 2015, Professor Park was selected as a regular member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, and is currently the government's 'future growth engine task force team' new renewable energy hybrid system task force team, the IEA (International Energy Agency) PVPS (Photovoltaic Power Systems Task 1 Korea representative, international cooperation department chairman and senior vice-chairman of the Korea Photovoltaic Society, and photovoltaic PD of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (currently Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy).
 Professor Park received the '24th Excellent Science Technology Paper Award' from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Studies, and in 2013, he was awarded the 'Seokmyeong Excellent Chemist Award' from the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, which is Korea's top association in the chemical engineering sector.
