YU Department of Electrical Engineering Professor Park Joo-hyun (51) was selected as the world’s top 1% researcher once again. He was selected for this honor for the fourth consecutive year since 2015 and he continues such world-class research.
The global information analysis company Clarivate Analytics announced its ‘2018 Most Influential Researchers in the World’, or the list of the ‘Highly Cited Researchers (HCR)’.
There were over 6,000 people around the world who were named in the HCR this year. YU Professor Park Joo-hyun was selected for the fourth straight year in the mathematics sector. There were 90 researchers around the world included in the list for mathematics.
Clarivate Analytics analyzed the ‘web of science’, which is the world’s most massive academic information database, to select researchers based on the top 1% highly cited papers in each academic sector. He has been continuously recognized from fellow researchers around the world for the past 10 years. This means that the quality of the paper was outstanding.
In 2018, over 4,000 researchers in a total of 21 fields such as science and natural science were selected as HCR. Approximately 2,000 researchers were included in the ‘cross-field’ (researchers exhibiting research capacities in multiple fields among researchers who did not meet the criteria for selection in each academic sector in terms of top 1% cited papers in 21 fields) and so worldwide, over 6,000 were selected for the HCR. 22 Koreans were included in the cross-field, thus placing 50 Koreans on the list.
Professor Park has been actively engaged in research publishing about 150 papers in SCI academic journals as the main author in the past five years. Among them, 60% of the papers were published in top 10% JCR (Journal Citation Reports) journals. He has been cited 13,500 times as of current. Professor Park’s papers were cited in total 19,300 times in Google Scholar.
Professor Park is acknowledged as a global authority in the nonlinear control system analysis using fuzzy theories. In October, he was appointed as associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems’, which is a world-acclaimed academic journal published by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
The global academic publication company Springer Nature also paid attention to the research outcomes of Professor Park. At the suggestion of Springer Nature, Professor Park published ‘Recent Advances in Control and Filtering of Dynamic Systems with Constrained Signals’ in September.
