Person of Merit Award in health and medicine on the 48th Health Day

Contributions to the development of food safety education and policies for improving expertise of nutritionists

YU College of Human Ecology and Kinesiology Department of Food and Nutrition Professor Ryu Gyeong received a presidential citation in the Person of Merit Awards in health and medicine in commemoration of the 48th Health Day held at the Seoul Millennium Hilton Hotel at 10:30 a.m. on the 16th (Wed). This award was given to her for her contributions to the development of food safety education and policies, and for improving the expertise of nutritionists.

 

  Professor Ryu is carrying out policy research on group food service management and food safety for the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and she has also been participating in policy development and food hygiene education for the development of nutritionist positions as an executive at the Korean Dietetic Association since 2001. She served as the chairperson for the Korean Society of Food Service Sanitation for two years from 2015 and from 2017, she served as committee member of the Food Safety Policy Committee under the Office for Government Policy Coordination, where she has been contributing in improving national health through national food safety policy support and evaluation activities.

 

  Professor Ryu joined YU as a professor in 2008 and is also serving as the Dean of the College of Human Ecology and Kinesiology. She is currently active as the vice-chairperson of the Korean Dietetic Association, committee member of the Food Safety Policy Committee under the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and Food Hygiene Review Committee Member of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
