YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) accelerates cultivation of robot engineering talents in the 4th Industrial Revolution Times with the support of a local government.

YU Department of Robot Engineering was selected an innovative support project for specialized college department of linked with Gyeongsangbukdo regional industry. As YU Department of Robot Engineering was selected for the project, it will implement a talent cultivation project based on the support of KRW 2.4 billion for five years from this year to 2026.

The goal of innovative support project for specialized college departments linked with regional industry is cultivation of regional strategic industrial tailored talents through the support concentrated in a specialized college department. The purpose is to strengthen colleges’ competitiveness and lead regional settlement of excellent talents.

  YU Department of Robot Engineering has been providing the educational course of a specialized department and a systematic education curriculum since 2017 and is evaluated to have the capability to supply robot industrial area being rapidly increased with talents rapidly and stably. Also, it arranged a detailed and probable educational course with reflection of regional industries of Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

Based on this selection, YU will make a specialized curriculum with reflection of future industrial demands through industry-academy-government cooperation and will construct educational infrastructure to strengthen capability for practical work including operation of employment-linked education courses through discussions with enterprises. Especially, freshmen of 2023 YU Department of Robot Engineering will be supported with full tuition for one year.

The research and technology of YU was already famous in robot engineering area of the world. “WalkON Suit 4” (a Korean ironman robot of Professor CHOI Jeong-soo of YU Department of Robot Engineering) took the top position in “Cybathlon 2020.” YU has been leading fusion education for robot engineering students by holding robot soccer contests with manufacture and operation of balancing robots in which machinery, electronics, electricity, SW and wireless communication technologies every year since 2018.

  President CHOI Oe-chool of YU said, “The selection for the project is the result that Yu’s endeavors for specialization in each academic area were externally accepted. The performances of academic areas including robot engineering and Saemaul international development area specialized by YU are internationally accepted. We will do our best so that YU students who received highest level of education in each academic area may become talents to contribute to human society over Korea.”
